An organ to wake the dead.

The Wurlitzer pavilion is still the centerpiece of the memorial park. This photo is from the Memorial Day 2001 services. Sadly, an electronic organ, right, was used for the services.

Another view of the pavilion.

The organ was so loud that it needed to be played from an underground bunker.

A view of the console.

Console is mostly complete with a few missing stop tabs.

Here are the combination action setting boards hinged at the rear of the organ.

Cobwebs festoon the console's wiring.

Another view of the wiring's sad state of affairs. There are many, many broken wires in the left rear corner of the console. It is a wonder that it still pays at all.

The 32' Diaphones are an impressive sight. They are one of only perhaps 15 sets that Wurlitzer built.

A single, bigger than life, three stage blower provides up to 50" WP. The blower (not the motor) runs hot to the touch.

A giant 30HP Westinghouse motor powers the whole affair.

(Note that the story about the console and pipes being flooded is untrue.)

My visit to the organ.
